Initial
reports indicate that Basha allegedly confined three 15-year-old girls for a
week, reportedly administering hard drugs before engaging in sexual acts.
Investigators
claim he would lock the girls inside his home whenever he left for work. Lawyer
Basita Michael took to Facebook to stress the critical need for the police to
handle the ongoing investigation with the “utmost seriousness, transparency,
and timeliness.”
Michael
expressed concerns about the justice system’s “troubling reputation for
shielding the wealthy and powerful,” and urged authorities to prioritize “the
best interests of the child as required by our laws and international
commitments.”
The
victims’ families have reportedly voiced deep concern in an interview with
Liberty TV Online, appealing to the First Lady, Inspector General of Police,
and other government officials to ensure a thorough and unbiased investigation.
Michael
underscored this plea, stating it “underscores the urgent need to prove no one
is above the law.” She concluded her statement by noting, “The public is
watching.”
