APC Leadership Calls Urgent Meetings with MPs and Local Council Officials Over Governance Boycott

The leadership of the All People’s Congress (APC) has announced a series of important meetings with its elected representatives in Parliament and local councils as the party reviews its stance on participating in national governance processes.

In a public statement released on March 8, 2026, the APC National Secretariat invited all relevant party officials to attend two separate strategic consultations scheduled to take place during the week. The discussions are part of the party’s broader effort to strengthen internal unity and determine a collective position regarding ongoing political developments in Sierra Leone.

The first meeting is planned for Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. and will bring together all current APC Members of Parliament along with those who are yet to be officially confirmed. This includes parliamentary candidates whose names have already been submitted to the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) and are awaiting final recognition.

The session will be held at the APC National Secretariat located at 11A Railway Line, Brookfields in Freetown.

According to the notice, the gathering will provide an opportunity for party leaders and legislators to review the current political climate and discuss the party’s collective response.

The leadership believes it is essential for its representatives in Parliament to deliberate on the party’s strategy moving forward, especially in relation to participation in state governance institutions.

A second consultative meeting has also been scheduled for Thursday, March 12, 2026, at the same venue and time. This session will involve all elected APC local council officials, including those whose names are on the official list submitted to the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone.

Similar to the parliamentary meeting, the aim is to engage local government representatives in discussions surrounding the party’s future direction. Central to both meetings is the issue of the possible withdrawal of APC elected officials from participation in government processes.

The party leadership noted that the consultations are necessary as it continues to examine whether its representatives should remain actively involved in governance structures under the current political circumstances.

In the statement, the APC leadership described the moment as a critical phase for the party. It emphasized that the consultations are part of its efforts to protect democratic accountability, represent the interests of its supporters, and respond appropriately to what it described as ongoing challenges affecting governance in Sierra Leone.

Party officials stressed that the discussions will play a significant role in shaping the APC’s next steps and determining how its elected representatives will engage with national institutions in the coming months.

All invited Members of Parliament, council officials, and other concerned representatives have been strongly encouraged to attend the meetings promptly. The leadership highlighted that the outcomes of these deliberations could influence the party’s political strategy and its role within the country’s democratic system moving forward.

By organizing these consultations, the APC aims to ensure that decisions regarding governance participation are taken collectively and reflect the views of its elected officials at both the national and local levels.
